My dear Fr. Doug,…. et All,
Greetings and blessings.
I am delighted to be writing this note to you, and to be sharing it it with ‘ et all.’
Congratulations on the marvellous job you did at Mass for Shut-ins today. You were great and I was/am so proud of you.
Seeing you, all grown up and so tall, in your full regalia , at the Mass, brought a flood of memories which engulfed me as I remembered that I was the first multi-cultural choir director from Goa India/East Africa, you encountered when you were a little boy. Both you and your sister Michelle had the most wonderful smiles amongst the fifty five children who graced my choir at St. Ninian’s. ….same as your mother Rona’s, and my children’s too . Father Douglas Murphy was our parish priest then. I was so blest to have known and influenced so many beautiful children under the tutelage of our wonderful clergy, via song, teaching, Guiding, church , school, and community service. Blessings come in so many different ways. Those were indeed wonderful years.
On journeying on my solo flight through the galaxies, since 2020, I cannot help but wonder if God’s plan in sending Mike to find me in a far away land and bring me to Canada fifty-five years ago was because He had a special plan for me? I must be grateful for His blessings that fulfilled my life all these years. I feel so blest. Thank You God.
So my dear Fr. Doug, continue your wonderful calling at the University of Cape Breton, and bless all your multi-cultural students who are blest to have you as their leader, same as you had, when you were a little boy. Right? God bless. God has chosen well, and I totally approve… Mike would have too. Be strong. Stay caring. God loves you.
If I lived in Cape Breton, I’d surely have joined your astute UBC company, just as I did COADY at SFX here in Antigonish all these years. Perhaps I will come and visit you ‘ All ‘ some day soon to meet your wonderful students. Ha….. or perhaps you could bring a bus load down for a garden tea party in the summer? Let’s plan for it….and we’ll invite the many others too.
God bless, Fr. Doug. Keep up the good work, and be safe in the Lord’s hands.
Congratulations again.
Much love and blessings.
Yvette de Souza-Muise.
Sending you my ‘Three Musicians’ a la Picasso which I painted a while ago , to remind you of Choir days eons ago. Hope you like it.
