CELEBRATING THE FEAST OF THE SACRED HEART TODAY…. 11TH JUNE 2021
My dearest Family and Friends,Today , on the Feast of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, my heart is filled with memories of 8th June 2018 when Mike and I celebrated with you , our 50th Wedding Anniversary, at the Monastery of Our Lady of Grace, here in Antigonish, on the Feast of the Sacred Heart..… and where you, Anna Marie , sang Gounod’s Ave Maria like an angel. What a lovely occasion that was. I watched the entire video Ben had taken for us. It brought back wonderful memories. Thanks a million.In 1972, when we bought our home, we dedicated it to the Sacred Heart of Jesus, just as my parents and grandparents had done in Zanzibar, when our families lived there, eons ago. Father Doug Murphy, in the presence of our dearest friends Judy and Jack O’Donnell, who now are also in heaven, came and blest our home , and for the dedication service, I macramed the image of the Sacred Heart which we took to our 50th Anniversary Mass to celebrate this special feast day.Some years later, without a doubt, our Joseph’s heart was healed when he had open-heart surgery in 1979 at the age of two, and that is when Aleixo decided, at the age of ten, that he wanted to become a ‘doctor of children because of what Dr. Roy had done for his little brother’ ….he wrote that in his essay in grade five in school. Mike saved that essay and we framed it and gave it to Aleixo and Debra upon their graduation together, from med school in 2000. We are blest with miracles for which I am forever grateful.Today, I send my macramed Heart to all of you via this e-mail with all my love and blessings, together with, the just-taken pictures of the beautiful flowers Mike had planted for me in our paradise place of abode, over the years. And, just as I was taking the pictures, the wind picked up, so I took a little video memento.
